Chapter 1 - The Panic in the Therapy Room

The grand, luxurious therapy room of the Lake Forest estate was bathed in warm, afternoon sunlight. A massive crystal chandelier hung above an open black suitcase resting on a marble table, completely overflowing with packed stacks of hundred-dollar bills.

But the atmosphere in the room was suffocatingly violent.

"Absolutely not!" Dominic suddenly panicked, his voice cracking with pure, unadulterated terror.

Dominic was a fifty-year-old man in a tailored dark suit. He was the most trusted, senior financial advisor to the Moretti family. He lunged forward aggressively, his hands frantically reaching to snatch a small, delicate white swan music box.

He didn't make it two steps.

Two massive, heavily armed syndicate bodyguards instantly stepped into his path, violently shoving Dominic backward.

Sitting on the plush carpet just inches away was Isabella. She was seven years old, wearing a pale blue dress. She clutched the white swan music box tightly against her chest, trembling violently.

Isabella hadn't spoken a single word in exactly eleven months. Not since her mother was tragically killed in a horrific, unsolved hit-and-run accident.

Kneeling right beside the frightened little girl was Vincent Moretti. Vincent was a thirty-five-year-old mafia boss. He wore a fitted black shirt that revealed lethal tattoos across his muscular arms. His face was lined with exhaustion and a desperate, agonizing grief for his traumatized daughter.
