Chapter 2 - The Innocent Witness

The cinematic tension in the grand therapy room spiked to a paralyzing level.
Dominic began to hyperventilate. He plastered a fake, condescending smile onto his sweating face. "Vincent, please! Don't encourage this! She's holding a fragile antique! I just didn't want her to break it! Let's get back to the offshore transfers, we have a lot of money to move today."
Vincent ignored him completely. The terrifying apex predator within the billionaire was already awake. He kept his intense, dark eyes entirely focused on his silent, trembling daughter.
Standing quietly near the corner of the room was Claire. She was the thirty-something head housekeeper, wearing a crisp black and white maid uniform, her blonde hair pulled into a neat updo. She stood rigidly, her hands resting protectively on the shoulders of her own four-year-old daughter, Ellie.
Ellie was a fearless, incredibly observant little girl with a red bow in her blonde hair, wearing a bright red velvet dress. She was clutching a stuffed bunny. She watched Dominic sweating in his expensive suit.
Ellie didn't whisper. She didn't hesitate.
She pointed a tiny, determined finger directly at the older man.
"He doesn't want her to open it," Ellie stated in a clear, highly serious voice that echoed off the crystal chandelier.

Claire gasped, immediately pulling Ellie tighter against her apron, terrified of interrupting the mafia boss.
👉 Vincent slowly stood up, turning his lethal attention away from his daughter and entirely onto his sweating advisor.
