Chapter 9 - The Father's Tears

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the grand room.

Vincent ordered his remaining guards to wait outside, ensuring absolute privacy. The room was perfectly quiet, save for the soft rustle of hundred-dollar bills still scattered across the plush carpet.

Claire was still standing defensively in the corner, holding Ellie and Isabella tightly against her maid uniform. She expected to be fired immediately for witnessing such brutal syndicate business.

Vincent walked slowly toward them.

The terrifying, cold executioner completely vanished. He looked exhausted, vulnerable, and his dark eyes were filled with a profound, overwhelming love.

He dropped to both knees right on the floor, entirely ignoring his expensive clothing, and wrapped his massive, tattooed arms fiercely around Isabella. He pulled his daughter against his chest, weeping openly into her pale blue dress.

"I am so sorry I didn't find the box sooner, Bella," Vincent choked out, burying his face in her hair. "You are so incredibly brave."

Isabella hugged him back with all her might, finally crying tears of relief instead of fear.
