Chapter 1 - The Spilled Champagne

The grand luxury Boston hotel ballroom was a cinematic masterpiece of extreme wealth. Pristine white marble floors reflected the warm, golden glow of massive crystal chandeliers. The city's absolute elite mingled in expensive formal wear, the quiet hum of high-society conversation filling the air.
But near the center of the room, a beautiful, fifteen-tier champagne tower had just been violently knocked over, soaking the marble floor in expensive alcohol and shattered glass.
Standing right in front of the mess, blocking the main exit to the ballroom, was Blake. He was a handsome man in his thirties wearing a sharp black tuxedo, holding a half-empty champagne glass.
But there was nothing handsome about his behavior. Blake’s face was twisted into a cruel, highly practiced, mocking smile.
He was publicly humiliating Claire, his ex-girlfriend.
Claire, a resilient woman in her late twenties, stood resolute in the center of the ballroom. She was seven months pregnant, wearing a breathtaking dark green silk maternity dress with an elegant high slit.
She wasn't crying. She protectively cradled her pregnant belly with one hand, glaring fiercely at the man who had abandoned her.

"Who exactly do you think is going to want you now, Claire?" Blake mocked loudly, his arrogant voice cutting right through the classical music. The high-society guests stopped talking, turning to watch the brutal confrontation in stunned, breathless silence.
