Chapter 5 - The Shattered Ego

A tight, cinematic close-up captured Blake’s face.
His cruel, practiced smile vanished instantly. The blood completely drained from his arrogant face, leaving him looking like a terrified ghost. His hands began to tremble so violently that the champagne spilled over the rim of his glass.
Blake recognized Roman Veyne immediately. Everyone in Boston knew better than to cross the silver-haired billionaire.
"Mr. Veyne..." Blake stammered pathetically, his toxic authority completely collapsing into dust in a fraction of a second. "I... I didn't know you were standing there. This is just a personal matter. She's my ex."
"I don't care who she is to you," Roman replied flawlessly, entirely devoid of human empathy for the terrified man.
Roman stared down at Blake with unsettling, cold authority. His mere presence was absolutely suffocating.
"You are standing in front of my guest," Roman whispered lethally, ensuring every single elite person in the room heard him. "And she told you to move."
Blake hyperventilated. He realized he was standing in the middle of a spilled champagne tower, actively threatening a pregnant woman, right in front of the apex predator of the city.
