Chapter 2 - The Heartless Betrayal

The cinematic tension in the ballroom was absolutely suffocating.

Claire didn't scream. She didn't drop her head in shame. The absolute, terrifying restraint she showed was infinitely more powerful than a tantrum.

Eight months ago, she and Blake had been engaged. But the exact day Claire happily announced she was pregnant, Blake’s true, toxic nature violently revealed itself. He didn't want a child. He wanted a carefree, luxurious lifestyle. He gave Claire a sickening ultimatum: terminate the pregnancy, or he was leaving.

Claire chose her baby. Blake walked out that very same night.

Now, he was standing in front of her at a major corporate gala, intentionally blocking her path to the coat check just to torture her.

Standing nervously behind Blake was Tessa. She was a beautiful twenty-something woman wearing a dazzling silver sequin evening gown. She was Blake’s new girlfriend—the woman he had replaced Claire with just two weeks after the breakup.

"Blake, move," Claire said quietly, her voice entirely defiant and dignified, completely refusing to let him see her sweat.

But Blake didn't move. He fed on the power of degrading her in front of the city's elite.

"I don't think I will," Blake sneered, taking a slow, arrogant sip of his champagne.
