Chapter 9 - The Broken Engagement

The two simple words hit Alexander with the force of a tactical explosive.

Alexander’s breath hitched violently in his chest. He looked closely at her face, finally seeing the sharp jawline and the fierce, unbreakable spirit of the mentor who had bled out in his arms. The agonizing, six-year search was finally over. The blood debt was standing right in front of him, disguised as a servant in his own home.

Victoria saw the lethal, dead-eyed shift in Alexander's expression. Her arrogant anger instantly evaporated into sheer, unadulterated panic.
"Alexander... what is it? Why are you looking at me like that?" Victoria stammered, taking a terrified step backward.
"You told me your family was honorable," Alexander stated, his voice a low, terrifying rumble that promised absolute destruction. "You told me you understood respect. But you just raised your foot to kick the daughter of the man who built this empire."
Alexander reached into his jacket pocket, pulled out the multi-million-dollar diamond engagement ring box he had been preparing to formally present to her later that night, and casually tossed it onto the marble floor.
