Chapter 3 - The Wooden Horse

The heavy, suffocating silence in the dining room was dripping with cinematic realism.
Vanessa froze, the arrogant, cruel smirk completely vanishing from her perfectly contoured face. She quickly smoothed down her tight red silk dress, putting on a sickening, fake smile as her terrifying fiancé approached.
"Dominic, darling," Vanessa stammered nervously, trying to step into his path. "This stupid maid brought her child to the dinner service. I was just handling the staff."
Dominic completely ignored her.
He didn't look at his high-society fiancée. He walked directly to the mahogany dining table and stopped in front of the gold-rimmed plates.
He slowly reached out with his heavily tattooed hands and picked up the small, battered wooden horse Vanessa had just thrown.
A medium cinematic shot captured the exact, breathless composition. Dominic stood in the absolute center of the room, holding the wooden toy, staring at it with intense, terrifying focus. Claire stood completely frozen, holding Noah tightly against her apron. Vanessa stood nervously on the right, her expression shifting into genuine, unexplainable panic.
Dominic didn't yell at the maid. He didn't order his heavily armed guards to throw her out.
He slowly raised his dark, highly observant eyes, looking entirely past Vanessa, and locked his gaze directly onto Claire.
