Chapter 7 - The Undercover Boss

To understand the absolute, crushing magnitude of Caroline’s catastrophic mistake, one had to look at the hidden reality of the airline’s recent corporate takeover.

Three weeks ago, Olivia Sterling’s massive investment firm had fully acquired the struggling airline. She had immediately reviewed thousands of customer complaints regarding toxic, arrogant, and abusive behavior from senior flight crews treating economy passengers like absolute garbage.

Olivia hadn't just boarded the flight to go to a meeting. She was conducting a highly classified, undercover audit of the entire flight experience. She intentionally wore a sweatshirt and sweatpants to test exactly how her elite staff treated people they deemed "beneath" them.

And Caroline had failed the test with flying, spectacular colors.

Olivia slowly pulled the black baseball cap off her head, letting her beautiful blonde hair fall freely over her shoulders. The calm, questioning passenger completely vanished. In her place stood a terrifying, untouchable billionaire apex predator.

"I told you I hoped you were certain," Olivia whispered softly, her cold, sharp gaze locking directly onto the weeping flight attendant.

"Ms. Sterling, please!" Caroline sobbed hysterically, dropping to her knees on the floor of the aircraft, completely abandoning her arrogant, elite persona. "I am so sorry! I have been with this airline for fifteen years! I have a mortgage! Please, have mercy!"

"You didn't show mercy to me when you thought I was a normal person," Olivia stated clinically, entirely devoid of human empathy.
