Chapter 9 - The Eviction

"You can't do this to us!" Margaret wailed, crawling across the polished marble floor in her ruined green dress. "We are your family! You can't just throw us into the street! We have nowhere to go!"

"You should have thought about that before you called me a worthless maid for twelve years," Claire replied, completely immune to her pathetic, fake tears.

Claire looked directly at her arrogant husband and mother-in-law. Her expression was completely calm and authoritative.

"Get out of my house," Claire commanded.

Two massive, heavily armed federal agents stepped through the front doors. They didn't ask nicely. They grabbed Ethan by the collar of his expensive dark suit and forcefully hauled him toward the exit. Another agent grabbed Margaret by the arm, dragging the weeping, humiliated woman toward the front porch.

"Claire, I beg of you!" Ethan screamed, his voice cracking in sheer agony as he was physically thrown out the front doors into the cold night air.

"Mom! Call my lawyers!" Ethan sobbed as the agents tossed Margaret out right next to him.

But they had no lawyers. They had no money. They had absolutely nothing.
