Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Bond

"Lily," Arthur smiled warmly, tears of pure relief falling from his eyes. "You are the smartest, bravest little doctor in the entire world. You saved your brother's life today."

Lily beamed, a bright, beautiful smile returning to her face. She hugged her toy stethoscope tightly to her chest.

"I listened really hard, Daddy," Lily said innocently.

"You did perfectly," Arthur promised, kissing the top of her blonde hair.

He wrapped his strong arms around both of his children, pulling them into a warm, unbreakable embrace right there in the sunlit living room. The terrifying nightmare was completely over, replaced by a genuine, unshakeable peace.

In the months that followed, Meredith was sentenced to twenty-five years in a maximum-security federal prison, completely abandoned by her family and stripped of every single asset she owned. The stolen money was returned to Arthur's mother, fully covering her cancer treatments, allowing her to make a full, miraculous recovery.

Arthur completely sealed the bunker under the floor with solid concrete, ensuring the darkness could never return to their home.

A year later, the living room was filled with bright sunlight and loud, happy laughter. Arthur sat on the sofa, watching Noah and Lily play together, finally finding absolute safety, knowing his family would always protect each other.

Do you think twenty-five years in prison was enough justice for Meredith, or did the cruel aunt deserve a harsher punishment for locking a child in a bunker?
