Chapter 2 - The Forbidden Wing

To understand why a simple sentence from a toddler could strike absolute, paralyzing terror into the heart of a powerful, heavily tattooed man, one had to understand the terrifying rules governing the massive estate.

Leo was not just a wealthy businessman. He was the undisputed, incredibly ruthless head of one of the most powerful, highly organized criminal syndicates on the East Coast. He ruled his vast empire with cold, absolute calculation and a deeply terrifying reputation. His men were utterly loyal, and his enemies were completely terrified of his name.

But inside the walls of his own home, Leo enforced one single, absolute, and entirely non-negotiable rule.

The heavy, dark wood double doors at the end of the grand hallway led to the old East Wing of the mansion. That specific wing was completely, permanently off-limits. The antique metal locks on those doors were secured at all times, and heavily armed bodyguards were instructed to patrol the perimeter outside the windows. No maids, no security guards, and absolutely no guests were ever allowed to turn the brass handles.

Rumors ran completely rampant among the domestic staff. Some whispered that the wing held millions in untraceable syndicate cash. Others claimed it was filled with highly illegal weaponry. Some even quietly speculated that the dark hallway was haunted by the ghosts of the men Leo had destroyed to claim his throne.

But Leo never confirmed any of the terrified rumors. He simply fired anyone who dared to ask questions, ensuring the dark wood doors remained a silent, suffocating mystery at the edge of his luxurious life.

He had spent three grueling years keeping his precious daughter completely isolated from the darkness of his world. He thought the heavy antique locks were enough to protect her innocent mind.
