Chapter 9 - The Executioner's Decision

Leo’s jaw tightened into a rigid, unyielding line of pure, executioner's intent. The ruggedly handsome mafia boss stared directly into the toxic, manipulative eyes of the woman he once loved.
"You're right," Leo stated quietly, his dark eyes entirely dead and devoid of human emotion. "I made a mistake three years ago. I let a parasite live inside my house because I thought I could contain the poison."
Carmela’s arrogant, triumphant smile finally faltered. She saw the absolute, terrifying shift in his posture. The man standing in the doorway wasn't the heartbroken husband anymore. He was the undisputed, utterly ruthless king of the underworld, and he had just passed a final sentence.
"Leo, wait—" Carmela stammered, taking a sudden, panicked step backward as the horrific reality of her situation finally crashed down upon her.
"You thought using my daughter would be your key out of this room," Leo interrupted, his voice dropping into a chilling, absolute register. "You were right. But you aren't walking out."
Leo reached into his dark trousers and pulled out a heavy, encrypted two-way radio. He pressed the transmission button, his cold eyes never leaving the terrified woman in the velvet robe.
"Bring the cleaning crew to the East Wing," Leo ordered his heavily armed, absolutely loyal enforcers waiting on the lower levels of the estate. "The prisoner is completely compromised. Remove her from the property. I don't care how deep you bury it. Make it permanent."
