Chapter 8 - The Undercover Ghost

Fiona picked up her cracked smartphone from the white tablecloth and casually slipped it back into her apron pocket. She didn't look like a servant anymore. She looked like the most powerful person in Manhattan.
"Because I wrote the filing, Grant," Fiona said, her voice ringing with clear, undeniable authority.
Derek and Nolan gasped, pushing their chairs back slightly.
"My name is Fiona Sterling," she continued, her icy gaze pinning him to the floor. "I am the lead forensic auditor for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s elite financial crimes unit. We’ve been tracking your illegal shell companies, your money laundering for the syndicate, and your offshore accounts for eighteen months."
Grant’s jaw dropped. The mafia billionaire was completely paralyzed.
"We needed someone inside to clone your encrypted device while you were distracted," Fiona explained, gesturing to the phone he was still clutching in his shaking tattooed hand. "You come to this exact table every Thursday at 1 PM. You leave your phone on the table. You treat the staff like they are invisible. It was the perfect blind spot."
