Chapter 12 - THE FIRST LOST TRIPLETS

Madeline kept a small wooden box containing the first triplets’ hospital bracelets.

Arthur asked to see it.

She said no.

Then changed her mind weeks later.

Inside were three bands.

Baby A.

Baby B.

Baby C.

No names officially recorded.

Madeline had named them privately.

Owen.

Grace.

Rose.

Arthur held the bands.

The children had existed for less than a day.

He had lived six years without knowing he was a father who had lost three babies.

Anger at Eleanor became easier than grief.

Madeline recognized that.

“Do not use her crimes to avoid this.”

Arthur looked at her.

“What am I supposed to do?”

“Feel it.”

He did.

Not once.

For months.

Therapy.

Memorial.

A private tree planted outside St. Vincent’s.

No press.

No foundation branding.

The lost triplets became family without becoming public currency.
