Chapter 7 - The Housekeeper's Panic

Maya was still standing quietly near the stone columns, holding the clear plastic bag of white pills. She looked at Ethan with her innocent, serious eyes, entirely unfazed by the explosive drama that had just occurred.

"Are you still going to be sick, Mr. Ethan?" Maya asked softly, her voice carrying a genuine, heartbreaking concern.

Ethan ignored his expensive black tuxedo. He leaned forward in his wheelchair, reaching out his large hand to gently tuck a loose strand of long brown hair behind Maya's delicate white floral headband.

The terrifying, ruthless CEO completely melted away, leaving only a profoundly grateful, fiercely protective man.

"No, Maya," Ethan smiled warmly, genuine tears welling in his dark, intense eyes. "Because of you, I am going to get completely better. You saved my life today."

Suddenly, Maya’s mother, Elena, the head housekeeper of the estate, rushed up to the altar. She was completely out of breath, wearing her formal black-and-white staff uniform, looking absolutely terrified that her daughter had just ruined the billionaire's multi-million-dollar wedding.

"Mr. Ethan, I am so incredibly sorry!" Elena panicked, grabbing Maya's hand and trying to pull her behind her. "I didn't know she was going to come up here! I told her to stay in the back! Please, please don't fire me!"

"Fire you?" Ethan asked, his voice thick with overwhelming, beautiful emotion.

Ethan looked at the hardworking single mother, and then at the incredibly brave, observant nine-year-old girl who had noticed what a team of elite, highly paid doctors had completely missed.
