"I am promoting you to Head of the Estate," Ethan stated, his voice echoing with absolute, undeniable authority. "I am quadrupling your salary. I am moving you both out of the staff quarters and into a private suite in the east wing. And as for Maya..."
Ethan looked back at the little girl in the yellow floral dress, his heart swelling with an immense, protective love.
"I am setting up a private trust fund in Maya's name," Ethan declared smoothly. "Her entire college tuition is fully paid for. Medical, dental, living expenses—everything is completely covered for the rest of her life. You will never have to worry about money ever again."
Elena gasped, covering her mouth with her hands, breaking down into heavy, beautiful sobs of pure, unadulterated relief. The crushing, terrifying weight of poverty was entirely erased in a single sentence.
"Thank you," Elena wept, hugging Maya tightly against her chest. "Thank you so much, sir. You are too generous."
"You don't owe me a single thank you," Ethan smiled softly, wiping a tear from his own eye. "I owe this little girl my entire world. She gave me my life back."
