Chapter 8 - The True King

The threat was entirely neutralized. The empire was secure.

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the cold basement.

Dominic gently took Sophia’s hand and led her up the stairs, out of the darkness and into the bright, warm lighting of the grand foyer.

Standing safely near the sweeping staircase, guarded by four massive enforcers who were looking at her with absolute adoration, was little Lily.

"Mommy!" Lily cheered, running across the marble floor in her yellow rain boots.

Sophia dropped to her knees, pulling her daughter into a desperate, crushing hug, crying tears of pure joy.

Dominic watched them, the heavy, dark armor he had worn for six years completely melting away. He didn't rule as a cold, heartless mafia boss anymore. He ruled as a fiercely protective father and a devoted man who had finally gotten his soul back.

He crouched down beside them, wrapping his massive, tattooed arms around both Sophia and Lily.

"You never have to hide again," Dominic vowed, his voice thick with emotion. "You never have to struggle. I am moving you into the master suite today. Nobody will ever, ever touch you again. We are a family now."

Lily smiled brightly, gently patting Dominic's cheek. "You're my daddy now?"

"Forever, little bird," Dominic smiled, kissing her forehead.

Six months later, the nightmare was entirely over. Vanessa had completely disappeared into the violent shadows of the Russian cartel. Sophia managed the estate with absolute grace and undeniable compassion, completely transforming the cold mansion into a warm, beautiful home.
