Chapter 10 - The Perfect Shot

"I didn't do it to show off, Sergeant," Emma replied smoothly, pulling her clear protective glasses off her face.

"If I hit the paper, Mercer would have just signed my qualification card and sent me back to the motor pool," Emma explained. "I needed him distracted. I needed him to drag his entire corrupt unit out here to mock me, so my federal team could raid the armory while they were all standing right here on the gravel, completely unarmed."

Donovan’s eyes widened in absolute shock, realizing the "failed" qualification was a meticulously planned, flawless tactical diversion.

"You missed on purpose to keep them looking the wrong way," Donovan whispered in awe.

"Exactly," Emma nodded. "But I still wanted you to know I wasn't actually missing."

Donovan laughed out loud, extending her hand. Emma took it, shaking the veteran's hand with immense mutual respect.

The dark shadows of corruption and treason were permanently banished from the base, replaced by an empire built on absolute loyalty, undeniable courage, and perfect justice.

If you were Emma, would you have confronted Mercer in private, or was letting the entire base watch him get arrested the absolute perfect revenge?
