Chapter 8 - The Digital Guillotine

Emma reached into the pocket of her camouflage fatigues and pulled out an encrypted smartphone.
"While you were busy trying to humiliate me on the firing line today," Emma said, holding up the glowing screen, "my team was actively raiding your massive, multi-million-dollar offshore bank accounts."
Mercer’s knees literally buckled. He dropped to the pale gravel, gasping for air as his entire illegal empire turned to ash.
"We seized every single dollar you made selling military equipment to cartels," Emma continued ruthlessly. "We seized your properties. We froze your wife's accounts. You are completely, permanently bankrupt. You have absolutely nothing left to hire a lawyer with."
"No!" Mercer wailed, clawing at the gravel in pure, animalistic agony. "I did it for my family! The military doesn't pay us enough! I deserved that money!"
"You sold weapons that kill American soldiers," Emma corrected softly, entirely immune to his pathetic, fake tears.
The sound of multiple heavy transport helicopters suddenly filled the air.
Three massive, blacked-out Blackhawks descended rapidly toward the outdoor range, the violent downwash kicking up a massive dust storm.
Dozens of heavily armed federal tactical agents swarmed out of the helicopters before the skids even touched the ground. They surrounded Combat Group Charlie, aiming their weapons directly at the corrupt infantrymen.

"Colonel Daniel Mercer," the lead agent announced over a bullhorn. "You are under arrest for high treason, massive wire fraud, and grand larceny."
👉 The corrupt soldiers were dragged away in handcuffs, leaving Emma to finally face the veteran who discovered the truth.
