Emily Hart disappeared eleven days before the lobby raid.
Not officially.
Officially, she entered St. Catherine’s after “an emotional episode” at a Prescott family dinner.
Her husband, Ethan, signed the admission papers.
Margaret called Victoria overseas and said Emily needed rest.
Sheriff Miller confirmed there had been no crime.
Dr. Calvin Price diagnosed acute psychosis.
The hospital refused Victoria access.
Every explanation arrived polished.
Complete.
Too complete.
Victoria had spent twenty-eight years in Army intelligence.
She knew when separate people repeated the same sentence because they believed it.
She also knew when they repeated it because someone had written it for them.
Emily is safe.
Emily is confused.
Emily does not want contact.
Emily has become dangerous.
The phrase “dangerous” appeared in the sheriff’s report, the medical note, Ethan’s email, and Margaret’s voicemail.
Same word.
Same order.
Same lie.
Victoria requested the emergency admission record.
The hospital denied it.
She called Ethan.
He cried.
Then hung up when Margaret entered the room.
Victoria contacted Emily’s civilian attorney.
The attorney had vanished from work.
She called the base legal office.
Someone had already filed paperwork claiming Victoria’s military travel made her unavailable as next of kin.
That filing contained a forged signature.
Victoria activated an encrypted trace on Emily’s last known phone.
The phone had been destroyed.
But one final data burst reached a military backup system Emily used while volunteering for a veterans’ support foundation.
The burst contained seven seconds of audio.
A door locking.
Emily crying.
Margaret’s voice.
“Once the hold is signed, your mother can’t reach you.”
Then Dr. Price.
“Keep the bruises out of the admission photographs.”
