Chapter 6 - The Burner Phone

An extreme close-up captured Lorenzo’s heavily tattooed hand picking up the small glass vial.
He unscrewed the black rubber stopper. The faint, undeniable chemical scent of a concentrated cardiac paralytic hit his senses. It was an untraceable, lethal poison used explicitly for high-level syndicate assassinations.
He slowly lowered the vial and picked up the black burner phone. Because Camilla had been actively using it to coordinate with Victor, the screen was unlocked.
Lorenzo opened the messaging app. The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing betrayal paralyzed the entire room.
From V: The poison is ready. Did you plant the necklace in the maid's room? To V: Yes. The stupid girl is going to take the fall. Once Lorenzo drinks the champagne tonight, you take over the northern ports, and I take the estate.
Lorenzo stopped breathing. The air was violently crushed from his lungs.
The woman he was supposed to marry wasn't just a cruel snob. She was a murderer. And his most trusted Underboss, the man who had stood by his side for ten years, was actively planning his execution. They had framed an innocent mother and traumatized a three-year-old girl just to cover their tracks.
Lorenzo slowly raised his head.
The cold, intimidating mafia boss entirely vanished. In his place stood an apex predator who had just discovered two venomous parasites living in his house. His dark eyes turned pitch black, completely devoid of any human mercy.
He looked directly at Victor.
"You planted the necklace," Lorenzo whispered, his deep voice vibrating with a dark, demonic promise of absolute destruction.
