Chapter 10 - The True Family

The room was perfectly quiet, bathed in the soft, warm glow of the hospital lights.

Claire stepped out of the shadows. She was trembling slightly from the massive adrenaline dump, her pink scrubs feeling heavy. She had just witnessed the terrifying, legendary justice of the mafia king.

Dante looked up at her. The cold, terrifying executioner completely vanished from his dark eyes. He looked exhausted, vulnerable, and his face was filled with a profound, overwhelming love.

"Bring her to me," Dante whispered, his voice cracking with desperate emotion. "Please, Claire. Let me see my daughter."

Claire smiled, tears of pure relief flooding her eyes. She pulled out her phone and made a quick call to her sister, who had been hiding with Lily in the hospital's secure pediatric wing.

Minutes later, the heavy wooden door opened.

A tiny, four-year-old girl with wavy brown hair and big, expressive dark eyes walked shyly into the room. She was clutching a stuffed bear.

Dante completely broke. The ruthless billionaire wept openly, reaching his heavy, tattooed arms out toward the little girl. Lily didn't hesitate. She climbed right onto the edge of the hospital bed, intuitively wrapping her tiny arms around his neck.

Dante buried his face in her hair, holding her as if letting go would cause the world to end. He looked up at Claire, holding his hand out to her.

"You never have to hide again," Dante vowed, pulling Claire gently against his side. "I am stepping down from the syndicate. I'm taking the legitimate businesses, and we are moving to the estate. Nobody will ever, ever touch you or our daughter. We are a family now."

The dark shadows of cruelty, assassination, and betrayal were permanently banished from their lives, replaced by an empire built on absolute loyalty, undeniable courage, and perfect justice.

If you were Dante, would you have handed Victor over to the FBI, or was giving him to the Russian cartel the absolute perfect revenge?
