Chapter 4 - The Cruel Threat
Victoria let out a cold, impatient sigh, adjusting her massive diamond ring. As she turned to leave, her sharp eyes locked onto the corner of the room.
“Why is this filthy child in here?” Victoria snapped, her voice dripping with absolute venom.
Little Mia, terrified by the angry woman, accidentally dropped her toy microphone. It clattered loudly against the polished hardwood floor, rolling directly into the toe of Victoria’s expensive designer heels.
Victoria’s face twisted with rage. She didn't just kick the toy away. She lunged forward and aggressively grabbed Mia by her small arm, squeezing so hard the three-year-old girl cried out in genuine pain.
“Hey! Let her go!” Elena shouted, dropping her medical clipboard and desperately pulling Mia out of the woman's cruel grip.
Victoria didn't back down. She raised her hand and violently slapped Elena across the face. The sharp crack echoed loudly through the quiet medical suite. Elena stumbled backward, shielding her crying daughter.
“You are paid to wipe his face and keep your mouth shut, nurse,” Victoria hissed, leaning directly into Elena’s personal space. “Tonight, when his heart finally stops, you are going to sign the official time of death. If you breathe a single word of this to anyone, I will personally throw your little brat off this penthouse balcony. Do you understand me?”
Elena nodded frantically, tears of absolute terror pooling in her eyes.
On the bed, Lorenzo remained completely still. But his brilliant, tactical mind was wide awake. Hearing the woman he was supposed to marry threaten an innocent three-year-old girl sent a surge of demonic, uncontrollable wrath through his veins.
His heart rate monitor suddenly began to beep faster, threatening to expose his consciousness.

Elena acted immediately. She quickly reached out and muted the machine's alarm, pretending to adjust a dial. “He’s having a muscle spasm from the noise,” Elena lied smoothly to cover for him.
