Chapter 9 - The Stripping of the Queen

Five minutes later, the sharp clicking of designer heels echoed down the hallway.

Victoria pushed the heavy suite doors wide open. She strolled in casually, holding a crystal glass of expensive champagne, a smug, victorious smile plastered across her flawless face. She fully expected to see a corpse in the bed and a terrified nurse crying in the corner.

Instead, the bright overhead lights violently snapped on.

Victoria completely froze. The crystal champagne glass slipped from her manicured fingers, shattering loudly across the polished marble floor.

Silvio was lying unconscious in the center of the room, his hands tightly zip-tied behind his back with medical tubing.

And sitting comfortably in his luxurious leather armchair, looking exactly like a dark king reclaiming his stolen throne, was Lorenzo. He was aiming the suppressed pistol directly at her chest.

All the blood violently drained from Victoria’s face. She looked like she had just seen a ghost.

“Lorenzo... you’re alive,” Victoria stammered, her voice cracking as pure, unadulterated panic flooded her eyes. Her arrogant high-society mask shattered into a million pieces.

“No thanks to you,” Lorenzo replied, his voice echoing with cold, merciless authority. “You poisoned my car. You poisoned my blood.”

Lorenzo stood up slowly from the leather chair. He took a deliberate step toward her.

“And then,” Lorenzo growled, his dark eyes turning black with absolute fury. “You put your hands on the child who saved my life.”
