Chapter 8 - The Viper Strikes

Before Silvio could even process the empty bed or turn around, Lorenzo emerged from the pitch-black shadows of the curtains with explosive, terrifying speed.
The mafia boss didn't look weak anymore. The adrenaline of pure, unadulterated vengeance flooded his veins.
With blinding force, Lorenzo wrapped his heavily tattooed arm directly around Silvio’s throat, pulling him backward and locking him into a brutal, bone-crushing chokehold.
Silvio gasped in sheer, paralyzing shock. The lethal syringe dropped from his hand, shattering against the hardwood floor. He thrashed wildly, trying to raise his pistol, but Lorenzo’s grip was like an industrial vice.
Lorenzo reached out with his free hand, effortlessly snatching the suppressed pistol from the underboss's fingers. He pressed the cold steel barrel directly against Silvio’s temple.
“You forgot one thing, Silvio,” Lorenzo whispered directly into the traitor’s ear, his voice a lethal, demonic rumble. “I always sleep with one eye open.”
Silvio gagged, his eyes bulging with absolute terror as he realized the man he thought was a helpless vegetable was now holding his life in his hands.
With a sharp, violent twist, Lorenzo struck Silvio in the back of the head with the heavy grip of the pistol. Silvio’s eyes rolled back, and his traitorous body crumpled to the marble floor in a lifeless heap.
Lorenzo stood over the unconscious assassin, breathing heavily. He checked the magazine of the pistol and turned to Elena, who was staring at him in awe.
