Chapter 6 - The Poison Dispenser

Claire shined her small flashlight along the silver metal of the east wing duct.
Right at the junction box, spliced illegally into the main airflow, was a sleek, black, motorized aerosol dispenser. It was wired directly into the house’s Wi-Fi router.
Claire’s heart hammered against her ribs. She stepped up onto a metal crate and carefully unclasped the heavy black canister attached to the dispenser.
She turned the canister around in the beam of her flashlight. The label didn't say "organic aromatherapy." It was a highly concentrated, industrial-grade vaporized solvent—a toxic chemical designed for stripping paint, completely fatal if inhaled in unventilated spaces over long periods of time.
Eleanor had been using her smartphone app to remotely spray microscopic doses of the lethal chemical directly into the lungs of two innocent five-year-old boys every single night while they slept.
"She's killing them." Claire whispered, her vision blurring with tears of absolute rage.
"I told you to leave it alone."
Claire gasped and spun around, nearly dropping the heavy canister.
Standing in the shadows of the mechanical room was Mrs. Harper. The older woman was clutching her gray uniform, her face pale, trembling like a leaf.
"Mrs. Harper," Claire pleaded, holding up the toxic canister. "Look at this! She is murdering Vincent's children! We have to call the police!"

"If I go to the police, she'll destroy my family!" Mrs. Harper sobbed, stepping forward. "She has my son's bank records! She knows he made a mistake with his taxes! She's been blackmailing me to keep quiet!"
