Chapter 10 - The Promise Kept

Julian quickly wrote out a number, tore the check from the booklet, and slid it across the white tablecloth.

Olivia looked down at the paper. She gasped, her hands flying to cover her mouth. It was a check for one million dollars.

"Sir... I can't take this," Olivia cried, completely overwhelmed. "It's too much."

"It's barely enough," Julian corrected her gently. "That covers your mother's medical bills, in full, at the best private facility in the country. She will never have to rely on charity funding again."

Olivia broke down into heavy, beautiful sobs of absolute relief, bowing her head in profound gratitude. The crushing, agonizing weight of her mother's illness and poverty had vanished in a single stroke of a pen.

"Furthermore," Julian added, his voice warm and steady. "You are no longer a maid in this house. Starting tomorrow, you are the Head of Estate Operations. Nobody will ever raise a hand to you or disrespect you under my roof again."

In the months that followed, Vanessa's life completely unraveled. Faced with the undeniable physical evidence of the burner phone, the fake necklace, and Olivia's brave testimony, she pleaded guilty to avoid a lengthy trial. She traded her designer red gowns for a federal prison jumpsuit, sentenced to twenty years behind bars.

Olivia’s mother received world-class treatment and made a miraculous full recovery. Olivia stepped into her new role with brilliant efficiency, transforming the estate from a cold, intimidating mansion into a true, warm home.
