Chapter 1 - The Wedding Day Bruise

The private bridal suite was illuminated by the colorful, fractured light of a massive stained-glass window. It was supposed to be a room of joy, a quiet sanctuary before the grand wedding ceremony.

Instead, the atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.

Marcus, a distinguished man in his sixties with sleek silver hair, a dark navy suit, and a sharp blue tie, stood frozen. He was looking at his daughter, Elena.

Elena was breathtaking in a custom white lace wedding dress, her dark hair styled in elegant waves. But ruining her flawless appearance was a dark, angry purple bruise swelling high on her left cheekbone.

Marcus gently touched his daughter's face, his hand trembling with a terrifying, suppressed rage.

"Who did this to you?" Marcus demanded, his voice a low, lethal whisper.

Before Elena could even answer, the heavy wooden door behind them swung open.

Julian, the groom, casually strolled into the room. He was a handsome man in his thirties, wearing a pristine white tuxedo jacket, a crisp white bow tie, and tailored black trousers. In his right hand, he held a crystal glass of expensive champagne.

He looked at Elena’s bruised face, and an arrogant, completely remorseless smirk spread across his lips.
