Chapter 5 - The Final Straw
Just two hours before the ceremony began, Julian had walked into his private study at the wedding venue and caught Elena standing entirely too close to his unlocked laptop.
Panicked and paranoid, Julian had violently grabbed her by the arm, spinning her around. When she refused to lower her eyes, he struck her across the face with the back of his hand, leaving the dark purple bruise blooming on her cheek.
He told her it was a lesson in obedience. He told her to put on her white dress and cover the mark with makeup.
But what Julian didn't know was that Elena didn't need any more time at his computer. The flash drive was already in her pocket. The encrypted files had already been downloaded, decrypted by Marcus’s private security team, and loaded onto a secure cloud server.
Even better, a hidden micro-camera in Elena’s bridal bouquet had recorded Julian’s violent assault, along with his arrogant confession of the blackmail, in crystal-clear high definition.
Julian thought he was walking into his coronation.
