Chapter 10 - The True Owner

"Julian Thorne," the lead federal agent barked, stepping into the grand hall with handcuffs already drawn. "You are under arrest for corporate espionage, grand larceny, extortion, and assault. Get on the ground."
"I have money! I have lawyers!" Julian sobbed hysterically, dropping to his knees in his pristine white tuxedo, completely humiliated in front of the entire high society of Chicago.
"You have nothing," Marcus stated coldly from the altar.
The federal agents violently shoved Julian to the marble floor, snapping the cold steel cuffs around his wrists. As he was dragged out of the hall, kicking and screaming like a pathetic, cornered animal, the wealthy guests watched in silent approval. His reputation, his freedom, and his entire life were permanently destroyed.
Marcus turned away from the pathetic scene. He walked slowly back into the stained-glass bridal suite.
Elena was waiting for him. She didn't look like a bruised victim anymore. She looked radiant, strong, and completely free.

Marcus wrapped his arms around his daughter, pulling her into a fierce, protective embrace. He kissed the top of her head, tears of profound relief finally welling in his eyes. They had walked through hell, but they had burned the devil to the ground.
Do you think Julian’s public humiliation was the perfect revenge, or should they have just quietly handed the evidence to the police?
