Chapter 7 - The Doors Lock

"Luca... please," Vanessa begged, her voice shrinking into a pathetic squeak. "It’s deepfake audio! She edited it! You can't believe it!"

Luca didn't even acknowledge her. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and typed a single message.

Ten seconds later, the heavy oak doors of the grand ballroom were slammed shut by four massive security guards in black suits. The loud, echoing THUD sent a wave of panic through the elite crowd.

"Nobody leaves," Luca announced, his voice carrying effortlessly across the massive room.

Marcus Thorne’s face turned bright red. "Moretti, open those doors! You are holding a state senator hostage! I will have the FBI dismantle your entire syndicate by morning!"

Luca slowly turned his head to look at the older man.

"You won't be calling anyone, Marcus," Luca said calmly.

With blinding, terrifying speed, Luca closed the distance between them. He grabbed Marcus by the collar of his expensive navy blue suit, effortlessly lifting the older, heavier man several inches off the marble floor.

Marcus gagged, his hands frantically clawing at Luca’s iron grip.

"You came into my house," Luca growled, his voice vibrating with lethal intensity. "You touched my staff. You think your fifty million dollars buys you the right to act like an animal under my roof?"

"I have immunity!" Marcus choked out, his legs kicking weakly.

"Not here," Luca whispered.

With a violent, cinematic movement, Luca slammed the Senator backward into a table of champagne glasses. Crystal shattered everywhere. Marcus collapsed onto the floor in a heap of broken glass and spilled wine, groaning in absolute agony as he clutched his ribs.

The wealthy guests screamed, backing away in sheer terror.
