Chapter 1 - The Broken Antique

The massive, incredibly luxurious dining room was a cinematic display of completely untouchable high-society wealth. Warm, glowing golden light from a massive crystal chandelier poured over the heavy antique silver and flawless pale silk chairs. But the pristine, elegant serenity of the multi-million-dollar estate was violently shattered by the sickening sound of breaking porcelain.
Meline, a beautiful, plus-size mid-twenties maid with her brown hair pulled into a messy updo, dropped heavily to her knees on the cold marble floor.
She wore a simple black dress and a white ruffled apron, desperately trying to gather the shattered pieces of an extremely rare, wildly expensive antique serving bowl before it cut anyone. Her hands were shaking so violently that a sharp piece of porcelain actively sliced into her palm, drawing bright red blood that dripped onto the white marble.
Standing directly over her, radiating pure, toxic superiority, was Beatrice.
The fifty-something head housekeeper wore a strict, highly tailored dark gray uniform. She didn't look horrified or sympathetic that the young maid was bleeding. Her face twisted into a mask of cruel, unadulterated disgust.
"Now look what you've done," Beatrice hissed aggressively, entirely ensuring her venomous voice echoed across the massive dining room.
Meline kept her head bowed, fighting back humiliated tears. "I'm sorry, ma'am. The silver tray was too heavy, it just slipped—"

"Shut up!" Beatrice roared. Without a single second of hesitation, the cruel housekeeper raised her hand and violently slapped Meline across the arm, leaving a massive, angry red welt on her pale skin.
👉 Beatrice raised her hand to strike the weeping maid a second time, entirely unaware that the true king of the estate had just stepped into the room.
