Chapter 9 - The Fall of the Queen

"Julian, please!" Vivian begged, crawling across the floor in her ruined red gown, trying to grab his polished shoes. "I'll sign the divorce papers! I'll leave! Just let me walk away! I don't want to go to prison!"
Julian kicked his foot free, stepping away from her as if she were a disease.
"You aren't walking anywhere," Julian said coldly.
The heavy double doors of the dining room suddenly burst open.
Four uniformed police officers, accompanied by two detectives in plain clothes, marched into the room. Julian’s head of security stepped in right behind them.
"We got your signal, Mr. Vance," the lead detective said, looking at the sobbing woman on the floor.
"Arrest her," Julian commanded without a shred of hesitation. "Attempted murder, domestic terrorism, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. You have the video files."
The officers hauled Vivian to her feet. She kicked and screamed like a feral animal, completely abandoning any remaining shred of her sophisticated high-society persona.
"You can't do this to me!" Vivian shrieked as the cold steel handcuffs snapped tightly around her wrists. "I'm your wife! I own half of everything!"
"You own absolutely nothing," Julian replied smoothly. "My lawyers finalized the nullification of our prenup the second you committed a felony against me. Enjoy your concrete cell."
Vivian was dragged out of the dining room, her hysterical screams echoing down the grand hallway until the heavy front doors finally slammed shut.
The nightmare was over. The house fell completely silent.
