Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Bond

The violent, chaotic tension finally evaporated from the luxury mansion.

Dax dismissed the shocked guests, demanding the house be completely cleared. He walked slowly back into the dining room, where Leo was standing nervously near the grand staircase.

The terrifying mafia boss dropped immediately to his knees on the hard wooden floor. He didn't care about his pride. He pulled his eight-year-old son into a desperate, bone-crushing embrace, burying his face into the boy's white shirt as he openly wept.

"I am so sorry, Leo," Dax choked out, his broad shoulders shaking with profound remorse. "I will never, ever let anyone hurt you again. I love you more than anything."

Leo wrapped his small arms tightly around his father's neck, the terrible burden of his fake tantrums finally, permanently lifted. "I love you too, Dad."

Dax slowly looked up, his dark, tear-filled eyes locking onto Maya, who was standing quietly with the maid in the grey uniform.

"You didn't just clean up spilled milk," Dax said, his voice thick with absolute, undeniable respect. "You saved his life. And you saved mine."

Dax stood up, the power of his massive empire backing his words. "Maya, you are no longer a nanny. You are the Head of this Household. Your salary is quintupled, and you answer to no one but me." He looked at the maid. "And you are promoted to Estate Manager for standing by the truth."

The two women smiled, tears of joy welling in their eyes. The toxic parasite was gone, the father and son were finally reunited, and the mansion was finally a home.

If you were Dax, would you have handed Vanessa over to the police for child abuse, or was throwing her into the alley with absolutely nothing the perfect justice?
