Chapter 6 - The Stolen Diamonds
Friday evening arrived. The grand dining room was prepared for a massive, formal dinner.
Dax had invited his most elite corporate partners and syndicate associates to celebrate his upcoming wedding to Vanessa. The mansion was filled with powerful, dangerous people holding expensive champagne glasses.
Maya was in the kitchen, helping the maid in the grey uniform prepare Leo's dinner plate.
Suddenly, a piercing, hysterical shriek echoed from the grand foyer.
"Thief! We have a thief in the house!"
Vanessa stormed into the kitchen, wearing a breathtaking red evening gown, followed immediately by Dax and two massive, heavily armed security guards. The elite guests gathered near the doorway, watching the drama unfold in stunned silence.
Vanessa pointed a shaking, dramatic finger directly at Maya.
"She stole my three-million-dollar diamond engagement ring!" Vanessa screamed, her face contorted in fake, desperate agony. "I took it off to wash my hands, and I saw her slipping out of the master bathroom!"
Dax’s intensely handsome face hardened. The muscular mafia boss stepped forward, his dark eyes locking onto the calm nanny. The cinematic tension in the room was absolutely suffocating.
"Maya," Dax demanded, his voice a low, lethal rumble. "Is this true?"
