Chapter 8 - The Digital Guillotine

"You lying peasant!" Vanessa shrieked, her face turning an ugly, blotchy red. "Dax, they're working together! Fire them both!"
Dax didn't move. His slow, calculating eye movement shifted from his screaming fiancée to the remarkably calm nanny.
Maya calmly reached into her pocket and pulled out her smartphone. She tapped the screen twice.
"You were right about one thing, Vanessa," Maya said, her voice echoing with lethal, cinematic realism. "Leo is leaving this house. Because I am taking him with me until the police drag you out in handcuffs."
Maya pressed play.
The audio from the hidden teddy bear camera blasted through her phone's speakers at maximum volume.
"You better ramp it up tomorrow, you little freak. You make sure she quits by Friday. If your father doesn't sign the papers to send you to the Swiss asylum... I will tell him you tried to kill the baby I'm carrying. He will lock you away forever."
The toxic, malicious voice of Vanessa echoed off the marble countertops, completely exposing her demonic psychological torture of an eight-year-old grieving boy.
