Chapter 10 - The New Seat at the Table

The absolute destruction of Eleanor’s toxic control was swift, unyielding, and entirely uncompromising.

Surrounded by Lucas’s massive, silent bodyguards, the weeping, completely humiliated grandmother was physically escorted out of the multi-million-dollar mansion. The heavy white front doors slammed shut behind her with a deafening, absolute finality, permanently locking her out of the estate and stripping her of her unearned luxury.

Inside the mansion, the terrifying, explosive wrath of the father completely melted away.

Lucas turned his back on the ruined formal dining room, completely ignoring the shattered plates and spilled food scattered across the marble floor. He didn't care about the broken table; he cared only about the little girl standing quietly in the hallway.

He walked over to Maya, offering her a warm, incredibly gentle, and profoundly loving smile.

He reached out and gently took her small hand. Instead of leading her back to the hallway stool, Lucas bypassed the mess of the flipped table entirely. He took his daughter by the hand and walked her into the mansion's massive, sunlit, and completely pristine family kitchen.

Lucas pulled out a comfortable, beautiful chair right at the kitchen island. He sat Maya down, immediately plated a warm, delicious meal, and poured her a glass of fresh milk, sitting right beside her to eat together.

The Golden Retriever trotted happily into the kitchen, lying down contentedly at Maya's feet where it belonged.

Close-up: Maya looked up at her father, her eyes shining brightly. The heavy, dark shadow of fear was entirely gone, replaced by the absolute, undeniable certainty that she was deeply loved, fiercely protected, and never, ever going to be banished again.
