Chapter 7 - The Confrontation

Eleanor shrieked in absolute outrage, her glass of red wine spilling completely down the front of her expensive burgundy long-sleeve blouse, staining the silk a dark, bruised crimson.

She slammed her hands down onto the edge of a nearby sideboard, her elitist face twisting into a mask of furious indignation.

"Have you completely lost your mind, Lucas?!" Eleanor screamed hysterically, her voice echoing loudly off the crystal chandelier as the terrified guests cowered against the walls. "Look at what you've done! Look at this mess! You are acting like a savage animal in front of our guests!"

Lucas walked slowly through the spilled food and shattered glass, his polished leather shoes crunching menacingly over the fine china. He stopped just two feet away from his mother, towering over her with eyes that burned like cold, unforgiving coals.

"A savage animal?" Lucas repeated, his voice dangerously quiet, incredibly low, and vibrating with an absolute, terrifying dominance that made Eleanor physically step backward in sudden, genuine fear. "You forced an eight-year-old child to eat her meals on the hallway floor like a stray dog while you sat in here eating off fine china."

Eleanor’s face drained of color for a fraction of a second, but her massive, narcissistic ego quickly forced her to double down.

"She doesn't belong at this table!" Eleanor snapped back defensively, refusing to back down. "She's a cursed reminder of everything we lost! She's unruly, she's unrefined, and she needed to learn her proper place in this family!"

Lucas didn't yell back. He didn't argue with her twisted logic. He simply reached into the inner breast pocket of his tailored navy blue suit.
