Chapter 1 - The Funeral Confrontation

The massive, ancient cathedral was steeped in a heavy, suffocating silence. A grand mahogany casket rested at the front of the echoing hall, surrounded by exorbitant, overflowing white floral arrangements. It was the lavish funeral of Dominic Rossi, a brilliant, wildly successful tech developer who had tragically died in a suspicious, high-speed car crash just three days prior.

Standing near the edge of the casket was an eight-year-old Caucasian girl named Charlotte.

She was a beautiful, deeply heartbroken child with long light brown hair, wearing a simple floral dress and a small beige cardigan. She stood entirely alone, clutching a small, heavily cracked digital voice recorder in her tiny, trembling hands. Tears streamed silently down her pale cheeks.

Suddenly, the quiet, somber atmosphere was violently shattered.

Dominic’s corporate attorney, a slick, aggressive man in an expensive grey suit, marched directly up to the little girl. He didn't offer condolences. He didn't offer a hug or a tissue. His face was twisted into a horrific mask of pure, unadulterated panic and absolute malice.

Without a single shred of hesitation or human decency, the attorney lunged forward. He violently attempted to yank the digital recorder directly out of Charlotte’s small hands.

"Give me that right now!" the attorney hissed viciously, his grip tightening aggressively on the child's fragile wrist.

But before he could rip the device away, a massive, heavily tattooed hand shot out of the shadows.

Vincent, a towering, devastatingly handsome man in his late thirties, stepped forcefully between the attorney and the little girl. Vincent wore a flawless, custom-tailored black suit, a crisp white unbuttoned shirt, and a massive luxury watch. He wasn't just a mourner; he was the ruthless, undisputed boss of the city's most powerful criminal syndicate, and Dominic Rossi had been his closest childhood friend.

Vincent effortlessly grabbed the attorney's wrist, his grip like a titanium vice. He didn't yell. He didn't cause a scene.

"Take your hand off the girl," Vincent whispered, his voice dropping to a freezing, lethal frequency that promised absolutely nothing but blood.

👉 The arrogant attorney physically staggered backward, entirely unaware of the apocalyptic secret he had just tried to bury.
