Chapter 3 - The Ghost's Voice

The heavy, suffocating silence in the penthouse office was absolutely deafening.
Vincent slowly lowered his hand from his mouth, nodding once to the little girl. He braced himself, expecting to hear a final, sentimental goodbye message from his deceased friend.
A tight close-up captured the glowing smartphone screen resting in Charlotte’s small, trembling hands. She used her tiny thumb to firmly press the play button on a digital audio file explicitly labeled "Dominic."
A loud, electronic crackle echoed through the office speakers. For three agonizing seconds, there was nothing but the sound of heavy static and ragged, terrified breathing.
And then, a voice broke through the silence.
"Vincent... they lied to you."
It was a broken, desperate, and heavily distorted whisper. But it was absolutely, undeniably Dominic’s voice.
A medium close-up captured Vincent’s face. The terrifying, untouchable mafia boss completely froze. All the color violently drained from his handsome, chiseled features. His eyes widened slightly as the unmistakable voice of his dead best friend filled his silent office. The agonizing grief he had buried for three days instantly vaporized, violently replaced by a cold, absolute, and entirely demonic shock.
"Dominic?" Vincent whispered breathlessly, leaning forward in his massive leather chair, completely paralyzed by the cinematic reality of the recording.
The audio file wasn't a voicemail. It was a secret, ambient recording Dominic had managed to capture on his digital dictaphone in the final, terrifying moments before his supposed "accidental" car crash.
"The merger was a setup, Vince," Dominic’s distorted voice continued from the phone, the audio picking up the terrifying, high-pitched screech of tires in the background. "The corporate board... they sold my patents to the rival syndicate. They disabled my brakes. They are going to kill me."

Vincent stopped breathing. His best friend hadn't died in a tragic accident. He had been brutally, intentionally assassinated by his own corporate board.
👉 The audio recording continued to play, revealing a final, earth-shattering secret that would change Vincent's life forever.
