Chapter 5 - The Bloody Truth

Back in the present moment, Dante was staring at the ultrasound photograph in his trembling hand.
The silence in the penthouse foyer was suffocating. Dante looked at the date stamped on the corner of the image. It was dated three weeks ago.
"Elena..." Dante choked out, his voice cracking with a raw, demonic agony that completely stripped away his powerful facade. "You... you were pregnant? We were having a baby?"
"We were having twins, Dante," I corrected coldly, not taking a single step toward him.
Dante’s chest heaved. He looked at Bianca, who was suddenly trembling violently, trying to back away toward the elevator.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Dante whispered, tears of sheer horror welling in his intense gray-blue eyes. "I would have given you the world. I would have burned the city to the ground to protect you."
"I was going to tell you," I replied smoothly, the cinematic realism of my absolute detachment freezing the room. "But you were too busy giving her the keycard to my home. So I packed my bags to protect them from your world."
Dante’s jaw locked. The devastating realization hit him. He had driven me away entirely on his own.
"Where are they?" Dante demanded desperately, stepping forward. "Elena, please. I'll change everything. I'll end the merger. Just let me see them. Let me take care of you."
I looked at the man I had loved for seven years, and I delivered the final, fatal blow to his heart.

"You can't see them, Dante," I whispered softly. "Because they died on your marble staircase two nights ago."
👉 Dante’s entire universe violently collapsed, and the true monster in the room was about to face the executioner.
