Chapter 6 - The Apex Predator

All the oxygen was instantly, violently sucked out of the penthouse.
Dante physically dropped to his knees on the black-and-white marble floor. He clutched the ultrasound photograph to his chest, letting out a horrific, guttural wail of pure, unadulterated agony. The untouchable king of New York wept openly, completely shattered by the weight of his own arrogant blindness.
Bianca panicked. Driven by pure, animalistic terror, she lunged for the heavy double doors, desperate to escape the wrath of the monster she had just awakened.
But Dante wasn't just a grieving father. He was an apex predator.
With blinding, terrifying speed, Dante surged upward from the floor. He didn't yell. He didn't curse. He moved with cold, lethal precision. He grabbed Bianca by the throat of her expensive deep-red gown and violently slammed her backward against the marble console table.
The framed wedding photograph crashed to the floor, the glass shattering everywhere.
"Dante! Please!" Bianca shrieked hysterically, completely abandoning her glamorous, confident persona. "It was a mistake! She fell! I swear I didn't mean to hurt them!"
Dante’s dark eyes turned pitch black, entirely devoid of any human mercy.
He hadn't known about the stairs. He hadn't known Bianca was the reason his children were dead.
