Chapter 6 - The Shadows of the Laundry Room

Lorenzo didn't immediately storm into the master bedroom to execute Camilla. If he killed the cartel princess without securing his true family first, her family’s syndicate would retaliate and slaughter everyone he loved.
At exactly midnight, Lorenzo walked silently down into the mansion's massive, industrial laundry room.
Elena was standing alone under the harsh fluorescent lights, frantically folding towels, her hands shaking violently from sheer exhaustion and chronic terror. When she heard footsteps, she turned around.
Seeing the towering, imposing mafia boss standing in the doorway, Elena let out a sharp gasp, backing against the cold tile wall. She squeezed her eyes shut, entirely convinced he had discovered her fake identity and was going to kill her for breaking into his home.
Instead, Lorenzo dropped to his knees on the cold concrete floor.
He didn't speak as a terrifying executioner; he spoke as a broken, desperately regretful man who had just found his missing soul.
"Elena," Lorenzo choked out, tears of overwhelming guilt and profound love finally breaking through his hardened, untouchable facade. "I thought I lost you. I thought you burned."

Elena stared at him, the cinematic tension crushing the air out of the room. She slowly slid down the wall, collapsing to her knees in front of him. Lorenzo wrapped his massive arms around her, pulling her tightly against his chest, finally holding the woman who had haunted his dreams for four agonizing years.
👉 Lorenzo begged for her forgiveness, but Elena was about to reveal a dark secret that proved Camilla's betrayal was absolute.
