Chapter 5 - The Morning Trap

Adrian gently guided the exhausted mother and her sleeping baby directly into his massive, heavily fortified master suite. He locked the heavy wooden doors behind them, ensuring they were entirely untouchable.

"Sleep on the sofa," Adrian commanded softly. "Nobody gets through that door but me."

Adrian didn't sleep. He spent the next four hours sitting in the dark, his lethal mind working with flawless, surgical precision. He contacted his most trusted, off-the-books cyber-team and his ruthless corporate lawyers.

By 8:00 A.M., the trap was perfectly set.

Adrian walked into the grand, sunlit dining room wearing a tailored black suit, his dark hair perfectly styled, projecting absolute power.

Victoria was already sitting at the long mahogany table, wearing a flawless silk morning gown. She looked beautiful, innocent, and entirely perfectly composed. Standing near the corner of the room, arms crossed, was Marcus, playing the role of the loyal guard.

"Good morning, darling," Victoria smiled warmly, holding up a small, steaming porcelain cup. "I made your espresso exactly how you like it. You've been working so hard, you need the energy."

Adrian walked slowly toward the table. His dark, piercing eyes didn't show a single ounce of the apocalyptic fury boiling in his veins.

He sat down at the head of the table. Victoria pushed the espresso cup toward him.

"Thank you, Victoria," Adrian said smoothly. He didn't pick up the cup. He simply stared at the dark liquid.

"Drink up, darling before it gets cold," Victoria urged, her eyes flashing with a hidden, toxic anticipation.

Adrian leaned back in his heavy leather chair. He crossed his arms over his chest.

May you like

"Actually," Adrian replied, his voice dropping into a dark, freezing register. "I think you should drink it."

👉 Victoria’s perfect smile completely collapsed, and the sheer terror in her eyes signaled her ultimate downfall.
