Chapter 7 - The Enforcer's Mistake

Driven by pure, animalistic desperation, Marcus pulled his heavy tactical pistol from his shoulder holster, aiming directly at Adrian’s head.
"Sorry, Boss," Marcus snarled, pulling the trigger.
He never even got the shot off.
Adrian moved with blinding, terrifying speed. The mafia boss violently kicked the heavy mahogany table upward, shattering the breakfast plates and perfectly blocking Marcus’s line of sight.
Simultaneously, the heavy double doors of the dining room exploded open.
Six massive, heavily armed syndicate enforcers—men completely loyal to Adrian, who had been waiting in the hallway—stormed the room. They didn't hesitate for a microsecond.
Before Marcus could realign his weapon, two enforcers tackled him to the hardwood floor with bone-crushing force. They brutally disarmed the treacherous underboss, twisting his arms behind his back and pinning him down under their heavy boots.
Victoria screamed hysterically, covering her ears as the violent chaos completely shattered her elegant morning.
Adrian calmly stepped around the overturned table, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored black suit. He didn't have a single scratch on him. He walked over and looked down at Marcus, who was bleeding and gasping for air on the floor.
"You hunted a mother and a baby in my house," Adrian whispered, his dark eyes pitch black, devoid of any mercy. "You are dead to me."
Adrian looked at his loyal men. "Take him to the basement. Don't make it quick."
Marcus shrieked in absolute terror as the enforcers dragged him out of the dining room by his collar, his agonizing cries echoing down the hallway until the heavy doors slammed shut.
