Chapter 4 - The Underboss's Wing

Adrian didn't yell. He didn't lose control. The cinematic realism of his absolute, crushing betrayal transformed him into a flawless, calculating machine.
Marcus had been Adrian's right-hand man for five years. Marcus was the one who had "found" Julian's body. Marcus had sworn blood loyalty to the family, pretending to mourn while secretly keeping the stolen watch as a twisted, arrogant trophy.
And Elena, a corporate spy hired by a rival family, had accidentally uncovered the undeniable proof of his treason.
"Take the child to the secure vault," Adrian ordered his head guard, completely ignoring Elena's panicked sobbing. "Lock the door. She doesn't see anything that happens next."
"No! Please!" Elena shrieked, lunging down the stairs.
A guard easily caught her by the arm, holding her firmly but without brutality.
"If you want to leave this house alive, you will stand exactly where you are," Adrian whispered to Elena, his dark eyes devoid of any human mercy.
Adrian turned and walked deliberately down the long, luxurious hallway toward the guest wing. His three elite enforcers fell into step right behind him.
They reached the heavy double mahogany doors of Marcus's private suite.
Adrian didn't knock. He didn't announce himself.
