Chapter 5 - The Stolen Trophy

Marcus, a forty-something man accustomed to absolute luxury, jolted awake in his massive king-sized bed.

He was completely disoriented, tangled in expensive silk sheets. He reached frantically for the suppressed pistol he kept on his nightstand, but before his fingers could even touch the metal, two massive enforcers were already on him.

They dragged Marcus out of the bed by his throat, slamming him violently onto the hardwood floor.

"What the hell is going on?!" Marcus shrieked in pure, unadulterated panic, struggling helplessly under the heavy boots of the guards. "Adrian! Are we under attack?!"

Adrian slowly walked into the luxurious bedroom, his black suit immaculate. He didn't say a word.

He stopped directly in front of the bleeding Underboss. With a slow, incredibly deliberate motion, Adrian opened his hand and dropped the antique silver pocket watch directly onto the floor, inches from Marcus’s face.

Marcus physically froze. All the color violently drained from his arrogant features. His eyes widened in sheer, paralyzing horror.

"You kept a trophy," Adrian stated coldly, his deep voice vibrating with absolute doom.

"Adrian, please!" Marcus wept hysterically, entirely abandoning his tough-guy facade. "It's a misunderstanding! I bought that watch from a pawn shop! I didn't know it was Julian's!"

"You killed my brother," Adrian corrected softly, completely immune to the pathetic lies. "You ordered the ambush so you could take over the northern ports."

👉 Marcus begged to be handed over to the police, but the financial slaughter Adrian unleashed would destroy his soul.
