Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Protection
Elena dropped to her knees, pulling Nora into a desperate, crushing hug, crying tears of pure relief.
Adrian watched them for a moment. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a solid black titanium keycard. He held it out to Elena.
Elena looked up, confused.
"Your job as a corporate spy ended the second your daughter opened that purse," Adrian vowed, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every syllable.
"I am elevating you to the Director of Corporate Acquisitions for my legitimate businesses," Adrian continued, his dark eyes locking onto hers. "I am quadrupling whatever the Rossi family promised you. I am moving you and Nora into a massive, heavily guarded private suite in this estate, and I will personally ensure the Rossi family never breathes in your direction again. You are no longer a pawn. You are under my absolute protection."
Tears of pure, unadulterated joy spilled down Elena’s cheeks. She had finally secured a beautiful, untouchable future for her child.
She took the black keycard with trembling hands.
