Chapter 10 - The Vow Fulfilled

Vincent stood perfectly still, his chest heaving as the dark, violent energy slowly left his broad shoulders. He took a deep, shuddering breath, adjusting his black suit. The terrifying syndicate boss completely melted away, leaving only a desperate, grieving father behind.

He turned around and slowly walked back toward the leather sofa.

Claire was sitting up, trembling, holding Lily tightly. She had seen the truth. Vincent hadn't ordered the hit. He had protected them. He had destroyed the monster who ruined their lives.

Vincent completely ignored his tailored suit. He dropped to both knees on the floor, bringing himself right to eye level with his four-year-old daughter.

"I am so incredibly sorry," Vincent wept, genuine tears spilling down his scarred face. He looked at Claire. "I failed to protect you. I let a snake into our home, and it cost me my entire world. But I swear on my life, I will spend every single day making this right."

Claire looked at the vulnerable, weeping man. The paralyzing terror she had carried for five years finally evaporated. She took a shaky breath and slowly reached out, placing her trembling hand gently against Vincent's cheek.

"Mommy, why is the man crying?" Lily whispered innocently, clutching her white rabbit.

Claire smiled, tears of pure relief falling from her eyes. "Because he’s very happy to meet you, baby."

In the months that followed, Victoria was sentenced to forty years in a maximum-security prison, completely abandoned by high society. Vincent stepped back from the violent frontlines of his empire, purging his inner circle to ensure his family's absolute safety. He moved Claire and Lily into a sprawling, heavily guarded estate, showering them with the love and peace they had always deserved.

The nightmare was finally over, and the dangerous mafia boss realized that the greatest power he held wasn't his syndicate, but the beautiful little girl who tripped into his arms.

Do you think a forty-year prison sentence was enough justice for Victoria, or did the cruel fiancée deserve a harsher punishment from the mafia?
